Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Parent Coaching & Consultation
With You Every Step of the Way
I believe that parents do the best they can with the skills and resources that they have available.
I am passionate about helping parents become the best parents they can be – the parents they want to be for their children. It is incredibly rewarding for me to see a parent’s confidence in their own parenting skills grow and their relationship with their child becoming positive and rewarding.
I frequently incorporate parenting support, parent consultation, and parent coaching to improve the parent-child relationship, manage difficult child behaviors, establish healthy child routines (e.g., transitions, bedtime, and mealtime), build parenting skills, reduce family conflict, cope with life transitions (e.g., a new baby or family move), and to change negative patterns of relating. Through this work, we also focus on strengthening the bond between child and parent, developing more effective ways to relate and support the child’s emotional needs and bring more joy to parenting.
My approach with caregivers is relational and collaborative. I work with parents to define the goals, identify and build on strengths, and decide on the best approach given the needs of the family. I draw from a range of approaches, including behavioral therapy, behavior management training, Circle of Security Parenting (COSP), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).
